No Man’s Sky is an open world resource management survival game set in space. The over 18 quintilion planets which are procedurally generated provide a unique experience to all players. The gameplay is rich and neverending with simmilatiries to survival games like Rust. Even if its a primarily singleplayer game the up to 4 player multiplayeris quite fun. You can do a plethora of activities ranging from exploring planets and excavating materials to setting up trade routes. The game offers great variety for many different playstyles, but there is one item that is key and those are No Man’s Sky Nanites.
What Are No Man’s Sky Nanites
No Man’s Sky uses nanites, sometimes known as nanite clusters, as a supplemental currency. Their main function is to update your machinery. Earning Nanites is less of a concern for new players, but as you progress in No Man’s Sky, you’ll discover that it becomes more and more important. They are also used to purchase blueprints and upgrades for your gear and starships. Players also need No Man’s Sky Nanites to upgrade their tools to the highest tiers possible. This results in a huge number of nanites required, making players think of the fastest and best ways to farm Nanites. Especially since No Man’s Skies Frontiers Update is bound to require a lot of them to get everything newly added.
How to earn Nanites by working in No Man’s Sky
The simplest way to earn Nanites is to examine buildings for Nanite Clusters. You’ll come across various building types as you explore a planet, including Abandoned Buildings, Manufacturing Facilities, Observatories, and Shelters. The majority of these will provide some way to acquire nanites, however, some of them will be simpler to loot than others. Some buildings will be guarded by Sentinels which you should kill to get some extra Nanites. Which can also serve as a good and fun main income for Nanites.
Another method to easily get Nanites is to salvage or flip ships in space. Salvaging is a method that can be used once you have enough units to purchase B+ tier ships. The best place to find and get these ships is at Space Stations. This depends on your system since you may find yourself in one with an underwhelming economy. If this happens you should look for systems with a Tier 3 economy rating. To do this just look for terms such as wealthy, booming, prosperous, and such when you hyperdrive.
Which ships should you focus on
Not all ships are built the same in the game and their No Man’s Sky Nanites worth depends on some key factors. It is important to know how to pick the best ships to salvage and flip, some may even result in you losing out on units. The best attributes to look for are that the ship is B-Class or above and that they cost three million units or below. This will result in a higher chance for an expensive module which are worth more Nanites. Additionally, ships that cost over three million units aren’t worth the unit investment based on the Nanite payout, unless the ship is an S-Class. Lastly, focus on ships like fighters and shuttles due to their better payouts.

How to Farm No Man’s Sky Nanites
Farming No Man’s Sky Nanites is something every player will have to do at least once. One of the two best and fastest ways to earn Nanites is refining Larval Cores from Whispering Eggs. Which doubles as a fast way to earn units as well. You can only find the critters you’ll be stealing the eggs from at certain locations known as Abandoned Buildings. You shouldn’t have too much trouble finding one because they are on practically every planet, particularly the ones you start on. After locating the eggs they can be destroyed by the Mining Beam revealing the Larval Core. Now what’s left is to refine or sell the core and reap the benefits.
But the fastest way to earn No Man’s Sky Nanites entails a method that can yield up to 91.000+ Nanites per hour. It is by far the best way to acquire Nanites and can be done casually or optimized to have the biggest yield. Just remember that the difficulty of these fights will vary depending on where and how you fight them. But none the less will be the best way to get Nanites.
Other ways to get Nanites in No Man’s Sky
There are lots more ways to get Nanintes in the game but ones that you should look out for the most are completing local and nexus missions and to speak with Anomaly NPCs. You can go and do other activities as you please but these are ones you should consider doing. This is because they have other benefits besides the great Nanite supply.
Helios and Ares
Upon receiving access to the Anomaly, there will be a plethora of NPCs to talk to within. The ones you should visit regarding the gain of nanites are Helios and Ares. They will each ask for specific things in exchange for nanites. Helios will offer you nanites for each discovery that you mate while Ares will offer you nanites per Journey Milestone. Helios and Ares also sell some worthwhile goods if you have some Nanite Clusters. Lastly, remember that Helios offers a free Emergency Broadcast Reciever each week.
Getting Nanites from missions
This is arguably the easiest way to earn nanites, but it may not also be the most profitable.
It’s only one more reason to finish tasks, though. The regular questlines will reward you with some nanites, but the multiplayer Nexus Missions in the Anomaly will reward you with even more. You can also finish local missions for nanites that are offered by mission agents at space stations. Each mission will have a different goal depending on which station you go to, but it will always specify how many nanites you’ll get in return so you can determine if it’s worthwhile.
