Prismatic Slime Stardew Valley | What is it and why do you need it?

Stardew Valley has a variety of ways players can get close to their favorite villagers. From giving them gifts, taking them to the Movie Theater, to simply talking to them, gaining friendship is not so hard.

However, item delivery quests are among the best ways to gain friendship with a villager. You can find and accept these quests in front of Pierre’s General Store every day. These quests are randomly generated every day.

But there’s another, similar type of quest you can get. These quests are called Special Orders. You’ll gain access to them starting on Fall 2, Year 1 by visiting the special orders board which appears in front of the Mayor’s Manor.

These quests have several specific differences from the regular Help Wanted quests. For example, new orders only become available on Monday. The maximum timeframe to complete these quests varies from 7 to 28 days and runs out no matter if the player accepts the quest or not.

Players can also accept multiple orders at the same time. Unfortunately, players can only turn in items they’ve collected after they’ve accepted the order, making these quests harder.

In your weekly perusing of the orders board, you may have come across one of the Wizard’s more interesting quests which is to track down Prismatic Slime Stardew.

But what is Prismatic Slime anyway? How do you find it? Worry not! Thankfully, our Prismatic Slime Stardew Valley guide is here to help. Keep reading for all the info you need!

The Prismatic Jelly Quest

The player can accept the Prismatic Jelly quest by checking the special orders board every Monday. You will find the Wizard provides the quest, and there are no prerequisites to spawn it.

The Prismatic Jelly Quest

This quest has a maximum timeframe of 7 days, which means you don’t have to rush considering what the quest asks of you. Upon completion, the player receives 5,000g and the Monster Musk recipe. This makes it the second most profitable Special Order in terms of gold after Clint’s Cave Patrol order.

We already know and welcome the addition of 5,000g to our pockets. However, the Monster Musk is also an excellent item for combat lovers.

This item can be used to encounter more monsters. Upon use, it gives the Monster Musk buff which doubles the number of enemies on any given floor of the Mines, Skull Cavern, or the Volcano Dungeon. The buff lasts for 10 minutes.

It’s important to mention that using Monster Musk is perfectly safe if you already have other buffs from the food you’ve already consumed. Additionally, the Monster Musk buff is a special effect buff which means it won’t remove any other buffs.

The recipe calls for 30 Slime and 30 Bat Wings, making it one of the simpler recipes out there.

The Prismatic Jelly quest is not a repeatable quest. Once you get it and complete it, it won’t appear on the special orders board again.

What is the Prismatic Slime?

The Prismatic Slime is a special type of Slime that only spawns after you accept the Wizard’s Prismatic Jelly special order. It can spawn in the Mines, Quarry Mine, or Skull Cavern.

Looking at the Prismatic Slime, you’ll notice they’re pretty much the same shape as a regular Slime. However, their color is interesting, as it slowly changes through all the colors of the rainbow over time. This is probably the best way to differentiate the Prismatic Slime from regular Slime and its variations.

There’s even a chance for a Prismatic Slime to be a special slime. Unfortunately, this means it’ll drop one of the special items and you won’t get the Prismatic Jelly you need from it.

Once you’ve accepted the Prismatic Jelly quest, each slime in the game has a 1.2% chance to be replaced with a Prismatic Slime. This is true for the Mines, the Quarry Mine, and the Skull Cavern.

The chances of encountering a Prismatic Slime depend on daily luck, and there’s even a formula to prove it:

0.012 + Daily Luck / 10.0

Why do you need the Prismatic Slime?

Upon death, a Prismatic Slime drops Prismatic Jelly. This is the only item that drops from the Prismatic Slime. It has a drop rate of 100%, meaning it’s guaranteed to drop when you kill a Prismatic Slime Stardew. This is probably to prevent frustration when the chances of finding and killing a Prismatic Slime are already so low.

It’s possible to obtain two Prismatic Jellies by killing a Prismatic Slime while wearing the Burglar’s Ring. However, there’s no point in doing so as turning the Prismatic Jelly in for a quest will render the other one useless. Prismatic Jelly cannot be sold and it has no other use in the game other than the Prismatic Jelly special order.

If the player has more than one Prismatic Jelly in their inventory when turning in the quest, the other Prismatic Jelly will disappear. The quest only requires one Prismatic Jelly.

Where to find the Prismatic Slime: Best Levels

Increasing your Luck

There’s only one prerequisite to take care of when trying to find the elusive Prismatic Slime: max out your Daily Luck.

The base value is randomly generated from -0.1 which is unlucky to 0.1  which is lucky. A good way to check your base luck every day is by turning on the Television and selecting Fortune Teller.

Fortune Teller

Depending on the message you get from the Fortune Teller, you can tell what your daily luck will be. Here is a list of all possible messages and the stat bonus they represent:

  • The spirits are very happy today! They will do their best to shower everyone with good fortune. | (> +0.07)
  • The spirits are in good humor today. I think you’ll have a little extra luck. | (> +0.02 and ≤ +0.07)
  • The spirits feel neutral today. The day is in your hands. | (≥ -0.02 and ≤ +0.02, but not 0)
  • This is rare. The spirits feel absolutely neutral today. | (0)
  • The spirits are somewhat annoyed today. Luck will not be on your side. OR The spirits are somewhat mildly perturbed today. Luck will not be on your side. | (≥ -0.07 and < -0.02)
  • The spirits are very displeased today. They will do their best to make your life difficult. | (< -0.07)

Lucky Items

It’s also important to note that solving Secret Note #20 grants the player a Special Charm that permanently increases Daily Luck by 0.025. Make sure to get that before you head on your journey for the Prismatic Slime Stardew Valley.

You should also get the Lucky Ring which drops as a special item in the Skull Cavern or Quarry Mine. The player can also pan around the various bodies of water in Pelican Town to get it. The ring gives you +1 Luck.

Lucky Food

Finally, consuming certain food and drinks can give you a luck increase. These are the food and drinks you should look to make:

  • Lucky Lunch (+3 Luck)
  • Fried Eel (+1 Luck)
  • Spicy Eel (+1 Luck, +1 Speed)
  • Pumpkin Soup (+2 Luck, +2 Defense)
  • Shrimp Cocktail (+1 Luck, +1 Fishing)
  • Ginger Ale (+1 Luck)
  • Banana Pudding (+1 Luck, +1 Defense, +1 Mining)

The Lucky Lunch is obviously your best choice if you want to focus purely on Luck.

Levels To Visit

We hardly think you’ll have a problem finding a Prismatic Slime after all the Luck you just gathered.

The truth is that there is no best level to visit when trying to find a Prismatic Slime in the first place. This is because they spawn on all floors of the Mines, the Skull Cavern, and the Quarry Mines.

Levels To Visit

There are no definitive floors that are the best for encountering slimes. Your best bet is just trying to find an open floor that has room for as many Slimes as possible to spawn.

Prismatic Slime Stats: Best Weapons

Prismatic Slimes are a lot stronger than the other variations of Slime you can find. They have 1000 HP and 35 damage. The only comparable Slime that can appear in the game other than the Prismatic Slime is the Special Purple Slime (Sludge) with 1230 HP and 32 damage.

Needless to say, Prismatic Slime Stardew is a lot stronger than the Slime it replaces, so you will need to come prepared.

You should definitely make sure you have the Infinity Gavel before taking on the Prismatic Slime for the easiest and safest experience. Otherwise, make sure to have lots of food to restore your health.

To get the Infinity Gavel, you need to combine the Galaxy Hammer (75,000g at the Adventurer’s Guild) with 3 Galaxy Souls and 60 Cinder Shards in the Forge.

You can obtain 3 Galaxy Souls in the following ways:

  • Purchase them at Qi’s Walnut Room for 40 Qi Gems,
  • Purchase them from the Island Trader on the last day of any season for 10 Radioactive Bars after killing at least 50 Dangerous Monsters,
  • Kill enemies in the “Dangerous” Mines or in the Skull Cavern during Mr. Qi’s Skull Cavern Invasion after killing at least 50 Dangerous Monsters,
  • Kill the semi-transparent Big Slimes containing a Galaxy Soul in the “Dangerous” Mines or in the Skull Cavern during Mr. Qi’s Skull Cavern Invasion.

Cinder Shards are the easiest to get as you can mine them in the Volcano Dungeon or acquire them from a Stingray Fish Pond with at least 7 Stingrays. They also appear as random drops from the following enemies:

  • Magma Sprite
  • Magma Sparker
  • Magma Duggy
  • False Magma Cap
