Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Steinnbjorn: Location & how to beat

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has an impressive repertoire of legendary animals to find and beat, but a particularly formidable enemy is Steinnbjorn. This ice-covered bear puts up a decent fight against Eivor. Still, main character laws and regulations decide that Eivor comes out as the winner here, though many players may find it hard to believe.

This installment of the Assassin’s Creed series takes us back to the years 872-878 AD when the Vikings expanded into the British Isles. The game’s landscape is littered with legendary and dangerous creatures the player needs to conquer and loot to gain power, levels, and XP. Other than finding treasures, they’re a really good source for leveling!

However, there are a few creatures players have had a lot of trouble with. It may be hard to figure out their tactics or what they’re playing at. Many players have had similar issues with Steinnbjorn. We’ve put together a guide on how to find and beat Steinnbjorn, and we hope you enjoy!

What is Steinnbjorn? What does it look like?

Steinnbjorn is one of the toughest bosses in the game. It’s a large polar bear with white fur and sharp claws that it definitely makes use of. Steinnbjorn is covered in ice, which gives it an even more ominous and legendary appearance once you see it in-game.

Steinnbjorn is a boss that players need to thoroughly prepare to be able to take on. Its demanding mechanics and power level of 400 make sure to give even the best Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players a run for their money. However, just like any other enemy in the game, it’s definitely possible to defeat Steinnbjorn.

As far as combat goes, Steinnbjorn is a fast and powerful enemy. This means it takes serious focus and preparation to be able to face off against it and come out a victor. However, the question remains; how to find Steinnbjorn?

Where is Steinnbjorn?

Steinnbjorn resides in Jotunheim, which you can find in the northeast region of the map. This area is a prominent one in the game, featuring 33 different Wealth points and an abundance of various enemies to face off against in battle.

The Jotunheim area is accessible after completing the quest “A Feast to Remember” in Asgard. You can reach it with Valka’s help by completing the quest “Going Deeper”. This area is definitely worth visiting and exploring due to all the loot and experience you can gain from exploring it.

However, today we’re taking a look at Steinnbjorn and where to find the massive polar bear. With that in mind, you’ll need to locate the Serpent’s Tree synchronization point in Jotunheim. From here, you need to head north. Make sure you’re staying on track and heading east of Utgard, the capital of Jotunheim. This is where you’ll find Steinnbjorn.

Alternatively, you can also treat Steinnbjorn’s location as the central point between the Serpent’s Tree, the Grotto, and the Well of Mimir. Once you discover this general area, the game will mark Steinnbjorn’s exact location on your map. If you’re brave enough, you can fight it here.

How do you beat Steinnbjorn?

Don’t underestimate the work that goes into beating Steinnbjorn. As we said, this is one of the toughest bosses to face off against in the game, and it shouldn’t be taken lightly. With that being said, preparation is key to facing off against this polar bear.

First, you’ll have to make sure you’re well-equipped for the battle. Check your gear level and stats and make sure you’re wearing the best gear you can possibly get at this point in the game. If you need to improve your gear, you can always go and do what you need to do before coming back to square off with Steinnbjorn. You should also make sure to have spent all your skill points, as this can be helpful in the battle. Finally, be prepared to bring a lot of health and stamina potions.

Once you’ve completed the prep, you’ll need to go in a few times and fight Steinnbjorn. You’ll probably die, but that’s okay because the point is to understand how Steinnbjorn’s attacks work. The polar bear has several attacks you need to keep track of during the fight to beat it successfully. This includes putting those razor-sharp claws to good use, charging the player, and even bringing a few buddies to the battle.

Ideally, you’ll want to strike at the bear’s weakest moments. When Steinnbjorn performs its charge at the player, this leaves it vulnerable to your own attacks. This is the opportune moment to strike. You may also find using your abilities and arrows to be very handy in the fight against Steinnbjorn.

The most important part is to stay vigilant and keep track of the bear’s attacks. You don’t want Steinnbjorn to take advantage of your weak moments and send you straight to a game over screen.

What’s Steinnbjorn’s power level? How does it compare?

We’ve already mentioned that Steinnbjorn is a level 400 boss. This makes it one of the toughest bosses the player will face in the game. Unlike your typical pack of wolves guarding the Deserted Chalet, you’ll need more focus and strategy to beat it.

However, Steinnbjorn isn’t the toughest boss in the game. When you compare Steinnbjorn to the Daughters of Lerion, for example, you’ll find it’s a much easier fight against the bear than the three witches.

While Steinnbjorn is only one bear with a 400 power level, the three witches all have a power level of 340-420, depending on the order in which you fight them.

Cordelia and the Grand Maegester are two more examples of bosses comparable to Steinnbjorn. Their power levels are similar at 340 and 400 respectively. However, the mechanics make these fights even more challenging than Steinnbjorn.
